Letter: It’s not clear how ISIS can be destroyed

A realistic pessimist’s view on ISIS:

The brutal beheadings committed by ISIS have brought international condemnation. How to destroy this subhuman, brutal, psychopathic group of terrorists is certainly not going to be easy.

Why? Because they remain a faceless group of individuals, who will go underground, and remain underground, for as long as it takes. These people will use human shields, hide in mosques and retreat into caves where they will be difficult to find.

Boots on the ground, will result in countless lives lost, in a noble, but in my opinion, hopeless effort. Even if one could stamp them out, other terrorist organizations like Hamas, al Qaeda, and Boko Haram, will soon be quick to take over.

David Cameron, the British Prime Minister called Islam a peaceful religion, and ISIS, “monsters,” as indeed they are.

The Islamic fundamentalists, with a reign of terror, beheadings, and whatnot, terrify Islamic people. Retribution is swift, and lethal, if there is any indication of betrayal.

Terrorism unfortunately is here to stay, and I only wish there was a realistic solution.
